Recently, I had the pleasure of working on a stunning home in Scottsdale, Arizona, for a window washing job that truly highlighted both the challenge and the beauty of our craft. The homeowners were preparing for a special family wedding the very next day, and they wanted everything spotless — especially the large, elegant windows that grace their big house.
This was no ordinary window cleaning. The house boasted numerous large windows, including some French windows that were quite hard to reach. To make things more interesting, the windows above the roofline were high visibility from the inside, and the brittle roof tiles posed an added challenge.
Fortunately, the owners had another window cleaner—they weren’t available at the time, so I stepped in. As I looked at the roof tiles, I couldn’t help but notice footprints—something the owners already knew about. Given the brittleness of the tiles, I had to carefully assess how to clean the windows above the roof. It was clear that the only feasible approach was to clean from above, which meant navigating those fragile tiles carefully.
The job took all day — myself, my wife, and four helpers, totaling six of us! We love big projects like this because it’s rewarding to transform a home before such a special occasion.

Short Tutorial: How to Approach Large Window Cleaning in Scottsdale
1. Assess the Property & Access Challenges
Identify the size, location, and difficulty of reaching each window. For high or hard-to-reach windows, consider safe methods like extension poles or temporary scaffolding.
2. Prepare Your Equipment
Use professional-grade squeegees, microfiber cloths, and eco-friendly cleaning solutions. For high windows, telescoping tools are essential.
3. Plan for Fragile Areas
If the roof tiles are brittle, avoid walking on them. Instead, clean windows from above using extension poles or by carefully working from higher vantage points.
4. Communication & Timing
Coordinate with the homeowners, especially for special events. In this case, finishing before the wedding was crucial.
5. Safety First
Always prioritize safety, especially around fragile roofing and high windows. Use harnesses, proper footwear, and be patient.
6. Final Touches
After cleaning, wipe down frames, check for streaks, and ensure all windows shine brightly—perfect for capturing those family memories. This Scottsdale project was a big job, but the results speak for themselves. Clean, clear windows make a house look even more beautiful and inviting — especially right before a special day like a wedding.
